It is with great pleasure that Xtec Communications
Ltd announces that Mr Andrew Buxton, after being a shareholder within the company, has assumed the role of Chairman at Xtec.
After
graduating from
Oxford University,
Mr Buxton engaged in National Service with the Grenadier Guards. He joined Barclays
Bank PLC in 1963 and
rose to be in charge of the Bank’s Corporate Division. He became Chief Executive
of Barclays in 1992 and Chairman in 1993.
After his retirement, he was posted as the Senior
Advisor to the Barclays Bank group on
Middle East
business until 2003. Among other key positions that he held, Mr Buxton was President
of the British Bankers' Association until 2002.
Mr Buxton obtained a Masters degree in Politics,
Philosophy and Economics from
Oxford University.
He also has an Honorary Doctorate
of Science from
City University
and is a member of the Governing Council of Imperial College
of Science, Technology and Medicine. Additionally, Mr Buxton was Chairman of the
Charing Cross
and
Westminster Medical School
. Mr Buxton is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and in June 2003,
Mr Buxton was honoured in the Queen’s birthday honours where he was made a Companion
of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George (CMG).
When people of this calibre notice the great strides
that Xtec is making, and the vast potential that Xtec has, it gives the company
a great feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction that somebody of Mr Buxton’s
stature would wish to endorse the company in this way. It is a significant step
